A small studio alcove apartment was designed as a pied-a-terre to accommodate four people. The space is located within an historic landmark building that has 14’ high ceilings, original plaster crown mouldings and hand carved mahogany window casings. The design creates a dialog between the old and new by inserting a glass sleeping loft and stair, a new kitchenette, and acid etched glass panels and doors. The glass panels achieve a day lit effect similar to an outdoor space.
